This article is very interesting and connects well with the movie Ryan showed us on Tuesday in class. What do you guys think?

  1. All these people have enough money that they really didn't feel the significant financial effects that low and middle class individuals sustained during the recession.

  2. I think it's crazy how most of these guys weren't seriously hit by the crisis

  3. Reading articles like this makes you want to point the finger of blame solely at these individuals but honestly everyone played there part. However, I think the humane thing to do would be for these people to give a percentage of the wealth they made during the crisis/because of deregulation to a fund that supports the low-income/middle class families that were directly inversely affected by the crisis solely because the economy that they benefited so much from is in such a poor state and at their positions of power they should feel some what responsible for it. With great power comes great responsibility and money is power, it makes sense that the more money you have the more people they are responsible for. Realistically a lot of these people are older anyway are they really gonna spend all that money before they die? I think they can afford to give a little extra to the people in these hard times, but that's just me.

  4. It's very interesting to see where all these people are and what they are doing now. I agree with Shane, that they had a significant hand in the crisis, yet didn't really feel the effects.

  5. Oh this is a great article! Everyone wants to know where the monsters are after the mess, right? It looks like Greenspan is doing fine as a consultant to Pimco. I can also say the past two president of the United States are enjoying their wealth post-crisis. Gramm is at UBS and Greenberg is running a private equity firm. The people who started the mess are simply continuing their work, but now with much more money in their pockets. The quote below really sums up the entire article: "Let's hope we're all wealthy and retired by the time this house of cards falters."

  6. If I had a hand in the crisis and knew what I was doing, I damn well better have made off through it. These guys are some of the best in their fields, they knew what they were doing and that they could get away with it so to me it isn't shocking they made out so well. It's the fact the government gave them a pat ont he back for it.

  7. Seeing that these individuals are still significantly rich angers me . They clearly knew what they were doing the entire time, and they understood what could be done to ensure that their wealth was maintained. It is hard not to put the blame on them for the crisis. They had a huge part in the initial stages of economic downfall, yet they seemed to be un-phased.
