The questions in the quiz are interesting.  You can read about it here.  And then click in the body of the article on the quiz to take it.  Thoughts?

  1. I think that this quiz and the results that it gives are really important. Many people think that their own hard work is the reason why they are successful. However, it is necessary to recognize the immense support and opportunity that you receive, even if many of the "advantages" do not seem particularly remarkable.

  2. I agree with Zoe because many americans that are well off don't realize that sometimes they receive a lot support from their friends and family that helps them be successful. I think the American Dream means something different among our population but the common theme is hard work will get you a long ways.

  3. "The majority of factors have been in your favor" ...so in my context, I guess I've been living the Zimbabwean dream. Haha.

  4. There were a lot of questions I couldn't answer because they pertained specifically to being in the US. But I have noticed the cultural differences in who success is attributed to here and at home. When someone 'makes it', there tends to be an emphasis on them being self made, whereas at home the attitude is more collectivist.

  5. I definitely agree with this quiz in that the majority of factors have been in my favor. There is no possible way I would be where I am today with out the support I get in order to still be attending college at this point in my life.

  6. I also agree that the majority of factors have been in my favor. My parents came to the United States from Japan partly because they wanted my brother and I to get a quality and balanced education and I wouldn't be where I am today without support from them and many others.

  8. I agree with my score. I've had my fair share of help & privileges along the way. But, I've also never had anything handed to me & had to overcome a lot along the way

  9. I definitely would not be where I am today without the support of my friends and family.

  10. I agree with some of the answers but like Chido, its hard for this score to represent my life back home as well as my life in the states. If I grew up here then I would say this is a very useful tool to gain an idea of the experiences, people, systems or anything else that have been important one's life and mobility.
