This would be big for society and truly amazing. Though, it may also cause people to use less protection during sexual intercourse more so than people already do today.
This is really interest and if it is successful it could really change the world! Millions of lives could be saved by this cure. From reading the article, it looks like there is still some work to be done. Though the source looks promising we are ALMOST there, and almost doesn't count. I believe a cure is possible in my lifetime and am excited to see where modern medicine will take us.
I think it is great that we almost found a cure for HIV but I can't help to think of the down side to all of this which is people will no longer be able to scare children into abstinence by threatening them with AIDS AHHHHHHH!!!! *sarcasm* but honestly every time a vaccine is found a new disease is discovered. I am grateful for the hope that and HIV vaccine will bring but I'm afraid of what will happen next
I agree with Azia. Although we should be excited about a possible Vaccine, there is always the issue of the disease becoming immune to the vaccine and creating another virus. Having a vaccine will only provide a solution for a short-time, while potentially allowing the virus to develop into something even more deadly and harder to cure. For now, I will say that I am excited for the potential of a vaccine, but I am still pessimistic about its implications.
To tie this into finance, it will be interesting how much money the company can make because of this discovery, and how much the treatment will cost. Will only the rich be able to afford it? We have seen how Phizer has claimed almost no taxes in America, could something similar happen?
