  1. I differently didn't think that Obama was the lowest spender since Eisenhower. I think that Obama gets ridiculed for spending more than he actually does.

  2. That's not even close to bush who was the most recent. It's crazy how well the media has been able to skew the way his government has been spending.

  3. This is so surprising! I believe this is due to both pressure to lower the deficit and the sequester. It is so interesting to see that President Obama's first term of large government spending was actually cause by former President George W. Bush and the 2008 Congress.
It is also interesting that this article was published last year BEFORE the sequester and fiscal cliff. Now there is even less federal spending under the Obama administration. I think the best thing the government can do at this point is prime pump.

  4. Wow this is crazy, I would've never guessed that Barack Obama was the smallest government spender, but then when I really think about it I wonder who else would've spent less? He became president right when the economy was having problems and the aftermath of the Bush era troubles so he had to spend wisely and slowly do things to help us get back on our feet.

    1. Agreed, Obama kind of didn't have much of a choice given the circumstances.

  5. Who is to say that these numbers aren't skewed too?

  6. I believe that Obama has been given a bad reputation because of the media. More specifically, because of the media, I believed that he has been doing more spending as a President than any other in history. Clearly, this has not been the case. I believe that Obama did have an obligation to fix what had been broken by his predecessors, but there are always ways that he could've approached it better. Shane is right also, these numbers can also be slightly skewed, but I don't think they could've been skewed by that much.
