Some problems are real.....

There is, for example, the Lake Chad Basin in Africa, which is probably
where our next humanitarian disaster is about to happen. Nine million
people live in the region, which also happens to be where Boko Haram has
been on the rampage, slaughtering people and burning people out of
their homes. And Boko Haram is only one of the existential problems that
exist in that piece of the planet.

Crisis in Lake Chad Basin - Boko Haram, Climate Change, Poverty Intersect

  1. I find this article very eye opening especially considering one of the main sources for the crisis is water. I think that it is interesting that in today's world with all the technology and knowledge we have there are still major water crises all over the world (including our own backyard with the crisis in Flint). The situation in the Lake Chad Basin honestly seems like one of the worst humanitarian disasters I have heard of and chances are it will get much much worse before things get better. I think it will be interesting to how the president, whoever that may be, responds this crisis and the help they provide.

  2. I did not how climate change influences the mother nature because it does not affect me in Michigan. This kind of articles keep reminding me that climate change is real and it happens sometimes gradually or exponentially in different regions all over the world.

  3. I agree with Bharath I think it is interesting that yet again water is the main culprit for a huge humanitarian crisis. As we have seen multiple times in the U.S, it will be much worse in the case of Africa because of the other conflicts that are occurring there. However, due to the presence of Boko Haram has the potential to make this one of the worst modern day humanitarian disasters of all time.
