Why Trump is Important

I won't quote as much from this piece but it is worth reading.  The establishment hates Trump for the same reasons that it hates Bernie.  Big money, big pharma, Wall Street, and the "war machine" all stand to lose if Trump is elected.

Why the Establishment Hates Trump

  1. Cool article. This is a very cool video about what the real threat of a Donald Trump Presidency might be. It is not necessarily what he says or how he says it but rather the possibility that we do not know what he actually stands for. It starts out a bit slow but toward the end it gets interesting.

  3. Something that really worries me about Trump is the way he acts. If he is telling people who interrupt him to leave his rallies then how is he going to act when another world leader interrupts him or has a difference of opinion. Trump is not great with confrontation and he really needs to learn that what he is doing now to get the votes is something he cannot do with other powerful leaders. If he has attitude or pisses off the wrong person, we could be in another war.

I know this is an extreme case, but the way he is acting to the American people is scary and this cannot translate anywhere else.

We also need to think about the decisions he makes and how this will make us as Americans look to the rest of the world. I lived overseas when I was younger and when Bush was president. My parents were worried about our safety when Bush did something stupid, because people would judge us and come up and speak to us because they thought we were all the same.

Presidents need to be selfless and think about the American people and put their egos aside. This is something I am afraid Trump will not be able to do.

  4. Personally I think that if Trump gets elected almost nothing beneficial or longstanding will get passed. However, I agree with Rachel in that my biggest worry is the way Trump acts and his attitude toward those who disagree with him. He basically an overgrown man-child who wants things his way or will throw a fit and I have a feeling that kind of attitude is not going to work when speaking to other world leaders. While policies he institutes can be overturned, he could cause another war with his actions, and as the President of the U.S, is really the man we want to represent our country?

  5. This blog entry reminded me of the quiz on policy that we took in the first class. When it showed the results, I was shocked because 58% of the policies that I believe in were identified as Trump's policies. I believe more than half of the class had a similar result. When we think of a single issue, we might be on the same page with him.

When I took Intro to U.S. Politics in fall quarter, my professor said that both Bernie and Trump are so popular because they are both from the radical side of the political spectrum (even though Bernie is not as radical as Trump is). My professor was confident when he told us that in the real election, the moderate candidates will win. Now, Jeb Bush dropped out. Clinton and Sanders are close in the primaries. I can't really predict who is going to compete in the presidential election.
