  1. I think a large part of this inequality comes from the American value in eduction. Many hiring companies won't look to hire an individual who does not have a bachelors degree. This value for education in the workforce is a key component to the inequality in American household income levels.

  2. I think it is attributable to education but there are so many factors playing into the ways there cannot be social mobility. On one side there are political programs in place that take money away from schools struggling to meet state requirements when that just cripples them more. These schools are typically the inner city schools and this worsens their ability to grow, kind of the opposite of freedom to me. So now these kids who were born into lesser situations are already stripped of their educational privilege by the government. From a corporate stand point it works great for them because you have an uneducated work force you can pull from and keep wages lower to increase your profit. Which to me is one of the reasons why we see the 1% receiving all the luxuries of the current situation throughout America.

  3. I agree with Jared, some political institutions can be lobbied by the rich to decrease social and economic mobility for the middle class and poor. The rich wish to remain rich, and have the power to do so at the cost of others.

  4. This reoccurring issue of poverty is worrisome and like Jared said I also think education is a main factor in relation to this subject. It is sad to see that inner city schools have are struggling with educating their youth due to the 1) lack of concern from parents at home 2) bad influences from other friends/family and 3) crime/violence in the area. All these issues lead to nothing but bad things where these kids either end up in jail or in prison not being able to contribute to the economy/ live to their full potential at all.
