The relationship between taxis and war are interesting. People may be willing to pay higher taxes if everyday on the news they can see their money defending America, or something.
I agree with Alex, the correlation between war and taxes in the illustration are very interesting and understandable. If people feel that their money is going toward useful or respectable endeavors, they will be less willing to complain or feel cheated. However, I have a problem knowing that the tax rates were still high several years following the war. This article presented a very unique point of view regarding the tax history in the U.S., and I agree with many of the "politically incorrect" statements.
Although this is obviously a very shallow synopsis, I still found it interesting and pretty amusing. The simplicity and sarcastic edge to the story helped me to understand the history of taxes from many different sides of the story. I particularly liked, "the cold war sneaks up and everyone agrees to get super paranoid." Hilarious.
The illustrations made me feel like everything said in this article was completely valid.
