  1. During the fall I did some research on the Trans-Pacific Trade Agreement for a paper, and I remember the U.S. being interested in joining. It makes sense to join, especially since our neighbors Canada and Mexico are interested. I know there is a big debate that increasing trade will export American jobs, but consider the increase in US jobs because of an increase in exports. The United States has specializations in the service, R&D, and technology sectors we can offer the rest of the world. This trade agreement could also strengthen US foreign relations with participating nations.

  2. I think Bianca makes a great point. If the US were to join this trade agreement it could open a lot of doors for our economy, particularly if countries like Japan are successful at joining. Is there a reason that the US is not marked on this map as one of the countries interested?

  3. I believe that the United States should definitely consider joining this agreement, it provides a potential for a financial increase that can extremely useful in this current crisis. However, I don't believe that having an increase in trade will necessarily bring forth a loss in jobs. It is a risk worth taking in my opinion.
