The data used by the Piketty's book is a hot topic currently. Here is an interesting article that supports for Piketty's data or criticizes the people who are saying the data is flawed. The author appreciates the work done by the Financial Times but support's Pikkety's data.

I agree with Justin Wolfers here. Although some of Piketty's data in the book MAY have been imperfect, I really don't see these changes to have any real impact on the basic conclusions and I find it hard to believe that someone as smart as Chris Giles thinks inequality isn't really happening.
