I did not realize that the 'knowledge economies' in places like California and New York had higher rates of inequality over the years. The 'hollowing out' effect makes sense to me though.
On a different note, here is an infographic presenting some statistics on global inequality. The issue of inequality has entered the international arena, so it's nice to get that perspective.
